Music
I rewritten my music management software. I mainly focused on adding genre tag, thought using this occasion, I was successful at making my music tagging solution more extensible and flexible at the same time.
Gaming
While most start playing Shogi (Japanese Chess for those that don’t know), because they seen it in Japanese culture. I started playing Yakuze 0, because I heard that it included shogi.
Both games are great.
Hacking Kindle
Dammit Jeff’s video moved me to finally hack my kindle.
Check out Kindle Modding for the exact steps.
Learn from my mistakes
I tried jailbreaking 2 10th gen kindles, from which only one attempt was successful.
The trick lays in hosting a Wifi from your smartphone and disabling the internet access as often as possible.
First you try the step without network access and only if it doesn’t work, then you enable it for that step. Remember to disable it as soon as you end this step.
It is better to make this process slower, then for your kindle to auto-update and make it impossible to jailbreak.
It happened to me on my first try.
Thoughts
I wasn’t prepared for how much better the same device can be after simple software changes.
Koreader made it, so I could finally focus on reading books and not fight with the device itself. Reading manga is now viable without the need of converting it to mobi (which always added annoying margins and was painfully slow)
…don’t buy yourself a kindle for this process. If you want a good ebook reader choose Kobo eReaders.
While on that, I figured that its the time to move away from Goodreads. Now you can find my in this Bookwyrm’s instance.
Weirdly enough, CIA has quite useful and comprehensive dictionary, which I hesitantly recommend.
